Welcome to the Helman School website! We welcome you to peruse the site to get an idea of what it means to be a Helman Dragon. We are very proud of our school and all of our accomplishments both in and out of the classrooms. Students who attend Helman get a great education AND feel a powerful sense of belonging and community that they carry with them.

All of our staff members are dedicated to the positive development of the whole child. A quick tour of our school would reveal a buzz of energetic and engaged students working on a wide variety of projects and subjects. Perhaps a resident artist is teaching them rhythms or drum-making; perhaps they are preparing for a bike safety lesson or a field trip to the Ashland Pond for water monitoring with their buddy class; perhaps they are working cooperatively to solve the math challenge of the day or just quietly reading a choice book or heading off to music or PE class. Learning takes place in so many different ways here at Helman School and we work hard to make sure every child feels welcome, safe and deeply cared about. This commitment is reflected in the smiles that dominate our campus every day.

Although we are proud of our excellent test scores, we also know that a student needs a variety of other skills to be truly successful. Our teachers go the extra mile to schedule field trips and invite guests into our school to bring different experiences and perspectives to our students. Our Tea with the Principal program helps honor and celebrate some of those other attributes such as being positive and kind and helpful. We also provide a wide range of extracurricular activities such as Lego club, Soroptimist Strong Girls, Strong Women program, Battle of the Books and more to help students find and develop their individual passions.

At the base of all of our wonderful students are our wonderful parents! We love having parents get involved with our outstanding PTA which provides so much support for all of our community events such as the Helman Hoedown, the Talent Show, and our Mayfaire to name a few! We also rely on parents volunteering in classrooms, to read to students in the SMART program, to chaperone all of our field trips and, of course, support the children by reading to them and helping with homework.
