Soroptimist Strong Girls Strong Women Project

Helman Elementary is the proud recipient of a grant from Soroptimist International of Ashland to expand opportunities for young girls. In line with Soroptimist International of Ashland's mission statement....

A volunteer service organization improving the lives of women and girls locally and globally....

The project involves girls Kindergarten through Grade 5 in a variety of opportunities: providing books for the home featuring strong female role models (whether a person or a mouse), lunch once a month with a special mentor, science/math classes after school, field trips to businesses and organizations run and operated by women, and finally the opportunity to participate in environmental stewardship projects.
