Pentagames is a one day math competition for 7th and 8th graders. Ashland's team competes locally against most of the other middle schools in the valley. Students are recommended by their math teacher to try out for the team. The team consists of the top 4 qualifying students in three levels: 7th grader in a pre-algebra class, 8th grader in a pre-algebra class, or any 7th or 8th student in an algebra (or higher) math course. The try-out test usually occurs sometime in late February. Once the teams are chosen they meet once a week to practice. The competition is usually on the last Friday in April and has been held at various sites around the valley.
