Special Education

Services for School Age (ages 5-21) Students:
Ashland School District provides a continuum of services for students with disabilities who need specially designed instruction.  Eligible students (ages 5-21) receive a free, appropriate education designed with high expectations for individual performance and continuous progress.  Ashland employs or contracts with outstanding special education teachers and specialists including school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, autism specialists, and others to identify and serve students with disabilities.   Whenever possible, we provide services in the child's neighborhood school.  Ashland also operates district-level classrooms for students who need a more specialized environment.  At times, we may provide services on other campuses through partnerships with Southern Oregon Education Service District (SOESD) and others based on need as determined by an IEP team.

If you have questions regarding special education or suspect your child has a disability, please contact your child's principal or Student Services at 541-482-2438 to learn about the assessment process.
